FIRE crews spent five hours at the scene of a blaze after a combine harvester set on fire in Warrington.
Four fire engines were dispatched from Warrington, Runcorn, Penketh and Lymm to the incident on Holly Hedge Lane in Moore at around 11.50am yesterday, Sunday.
A resident reported at the time seeing 'lots of smoke, a few loud bangs and flames'.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire Service said: "Firefighters in breathing apparatus used four hose reel jets to tackle the blaze in the machinery and to stop fire spread across the field.
"Once the fire was out the crews continued to dampen down the affected area and the combine harvester was thoroughly stripped and checked for hotspots."
Four fire crews were needed to continue relaying water due to the remote location of the blaze.
Crews worked for five hours to completely extinguish the fire.
