MORE road closures are required to fix a fault in material at a junction that underwent months of major ‘upgrade’ work.

They will begin tomorrow, Monday, at the new Bewsey Road-Lovely Lane cyclops junction.

Following months of closures last summer, the junction, which also links Lodge Lane and Folly Lane, was completed in November.

It was designed to improve cyclist and pedestrian routes, making walking and cycling safer and reducing the risk of collisions or conflict between users.

It was the first of its kind in Warrington and was more than 80 per cent funded by the Government’s Active Travel Fund, with the scheme delivered on programme and within budget.

However, more work is needed to address a ‘failure of material’.

It is anticipated that the work will be done in three days, with road closures from 7pm to 1am from August 12, however the order covers up to two weeks.

It states: “The restrictions are required for resurfacing of the junction due to failure of material.”

The following closures will be in place:

  • Lovely Lane – from its junction with Bewsey Road, Lodge Lane and Folly Lane to a point approximately 65 metres in a south westerly direction
  • Lodge Lane – from its junction with Bewsey Road, Folly Lane and Lovely Lane to a point approximately 75 metres in a north westerly direction
  • Folly Lane – from its junction with Bewsey Road, Lodge Lane and Lovely Lane to a point approximately 95 metres in a north easterly direction
  • Bewsey Road – from its junction with Lodge Lane, Folly Lane and Lovely Lane to a point approximately 105 metres in a south easterly direction.
