A TAKEAWAY in Lymm has been hit with a two-star hygiene rating by inspectors, two years after it was rated ‘very good’.
Lymm Fish and Chip Shop, on Bridgewater Street was visited by Food Hygiene inspectors on July 2.
The takeaway was last inspected in 2022, when it received the highest possible rating of five.
The ratings are issued by the Food Standards Agency and are publicly available online.
Ratings range from five, very good, to zero, requires urgent improvement.
Upon their latest inspiration, it was found that Lymm Fish and Chip Shop requires improvement, as its rating was downgraded to a two.
The Food Standards Agency does not disclose the full reasonings behind the rating but does reveal general areas requiring improvement.
While hygienic food handling and management of food safety were found to be generally satisfactory, the cleanliness and condition of the facilities were noted to require improvement.
This includes the layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene in the takeaway.
