POLICE are appealing for help from residents in identifying a couple wanted over the theft of goods worth hundreds of pounds from TK Maxx.

Cheshire Police has released CCTV stills of a man and a woman sought over the incident in Warrington town centre.

The pair are alleged to have committed the crime on Tuesday, July 16, at the store in Golden Square Shopping Centre.

Goods worth £300 were pinched through a ‘clever’ technique involving two people, and anyone who recognises those in the images is urged to contact the police.

The force’s Warrington Police team said: “Officers on the town centre beat team would like to speak to this couple.

“They are alleged to have carried out a theft of various items from TK Maxx on Tuesday, July 16.

“They are believed to have used a clever little ‘abandoned basket technique’ to steal approximately £300 worth of items.

“The woman allegedly filled a basket and abandoned it, only to have the man come in and transfer the items to his backpack before leaving the shop with his ill-gotten gains.

“If you can identify them, email us on public.contact@cheshire.police.uk or call 101, quoting 24000621396.

“You can also call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
