WARRINGTON Animal Welfare has announced it is temporarily closed due to being at ‘crisis point’.
The charity, based on Slutchers Lane, cares for abandoned, abused, and unwanted domestic animals.
But it says it is currently full, as well as being ‘overwhelmed and exhausted’ by the surge in animal surrender requests.
In a Facebook post on Friday night, WAW revealed that due to these reasons and the slow pace of rehoming, it ‘must regretfully announce a temporary closure’.
“We are unable to accept any more animals, particularly cats and rabbits, for the foreseeable future," the post reads.
“This decision deeply conflicts with our commitment to helping any animal in need.
“However, our current priority is to rehome the animals already in our care.”
