A WARRINGTON pre-school has shone again with a consistently ‘good’ Ofsted rating.

Callands Pre-School and Link Club has once again excelled, earning a 'good' rating for its quality of education, personal development, and leadership and management.

It also achieved an 'Outstanding' rating for behaviour and attitudes during a recent inspection in June.

Inspectors praised the setting, stating that leaders and staff at the pre-school offer an effective curriculum that ensures children’s personal, social and emotional development is a priority.

Children also gain from an excellent key-person system and build close relationships with each member of the staff team as well as their key person.

Staff were observed spending time having meaningful discussions with the kids.

And to encourage children's learning, staff members were seen to ask probing questions, offer feedback, and provide direct teaching.

However, on some occasions, it was noted that staff do not always build on children's curiosity to deepen their understanding.

Children with SEND significantly benefit from the calming sensory rooms in the pre-school, the report added.

The special educational needs coordinator provides staff with training and guidance to support children.

Every child, including those with SEND, learns how to effectively manage their emotions, solve problems, and maintain relationships.

The Ofsted report further noted that the children's behaviour was 'exemplary'.

Staff are said to receive great support on both a personal and professional level, with staff retention levels being good.

The team are also considered 'superb role models', 'establishing clear boundaries for behaviour', so children know what is expected of them.

This 'good' rating follows two prior inspections in 2014 and 2018, during which the nursery was also graded good.
