THE emergency services are reported to have rushed to the scene of an incident in Lowton this afternoon.
On Thursday, residents reported that a road traffic collision had occurred around Braithwaite Road and Slag Lane in Lowton.
Transport and traffic analysts INRIX have also reported that an accident took place on Slag Lane, which has been closed in both directions while officers deal with the incident.
The stretch of road between Crow Wood Road and The Grove is reported to have been closed, which has resulted in heavy traffic around the area.
Motorists have been advised to find alternative routes.
Greater Manchester Police has been contacted for further information.
