Sarah Cumming and husband Archie are the owners of Victoria Park Vets on Knutsford Road and the business has just celebrated its second birthday at the beginning of last month.

Victoria Park Vets opened on July 4, 2022 – independence day for a new independent family-run vets in Warrington.

The couple moved to Warrington eight years ago and decided to open their own independent vets after seeing that the majority of vet practices had been sold to larger corporate businesses.

Sarah, who is 45, said: “Working for a corporate vets is very different to being in an independent practice, you don’t have the control and freedom to practice how you want.

“We realised there was a gap in the market for a local, family-run, independent vets which is more affordable for clients and guarantees that clients see the same familiar faces every visit.

“We treat cats and dogs, birds, tortoises, rabbits, guinea pigs and all small furries.

“We offer a variety of services from routine health checks, vaccines and neutering to more complex orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeries.

“We can also issue Animal Health certificates for pets going abroad.”

Prior to opening Victoria Park Vets, Archie and Sarah were clinic directors for other veterinary practices in the north west so they both had experience of running clinics as well as being vets.

Sarah has a keen interest in surgery, performing more complicated operations like TTA cruciate surgery, BOAS surgery, patella surgery and fractures.

Archie does animal health certificates and enjoys consulting and medicine cases.

Sarah said: “We treat our patients like they are our own pets.

“We believe in high quality veterinary medicine provided by a great, close-knit, happy team.

“Our health plan, which includes free consultations in addition to preventative healthcare is very popular with clients, as they don't have to worry about the cost of seeing the vet or nurse.

“This year, we've passed the RCVS practice standards scheme and we are currently working towards two more practice qualifications.

“Our business is independent and family run, therefore clients can have the continuity of seeing the same vet each visit and we can provide high quality, affordable veterinary care.

“With my surgical certificate, in-house laboratory and diagnostics, we can treat the vast majority of sick pets at Victoria Park Vets without the need for external referral.”
