AN exciting new American-themed gastropub has opened its doors in Warrington.

It was previously announced that Café at the End of the Universe would be expanding with a new venue named the Eagle and Spaceman.

The business, which prides itself on using top-quality ingredients and is one of the town’s most popular food spots, started up in 2015 and has been based at Warrington Market since 2020.

Thanks to its success and brilliant reputation in the town and beyond, owner Andy Kinsella and the team began a crowdfunder to launch the new gastropub venture.

This raised more than £6,000, with the gastropub now open on Church Street, opposite Pure Gym and in-between The Tavern Sports Bar and The Bulls Head.

Andy said: “We are mega excited to finally open our new American-inspired gastropub in the heart of Warrington, The Eagle and Spaceman

“Hopefully, for people who already love Café at the End of the Universe and Dark Side of the Spoon, it is a continuation of those businesses – think American-inspired food and desserts, but more pub food.

“There will still be a couple of burgers on the menu, but it is more meatloaf, chicken fried steak and cornbread, along with our famous fries and seasoning

“We also have a great selection of American beers and bourbons for people to try, and hopefully if we get people in drinking, we can expand our selection even more

“We hope to have a quiz night up and running soon, and we have some great offers and themed nights including Wing Wednesday, where will be cooking up hundreds of wings in some classic sauces

“We have all new staff, plus a couple have joined us from our previous businesses, and we would urge anyone to come and have a look at what we have done with the place – hopefully there is a bit of something for everyone.

The venue will be open Tuesday to Sunday, being closed on Mondays, with food served between midday and 9pm, and drinks until 11pm.

Andy added: “We would love to see all our regulars who supported us over the last seven years in Warrington, hopefully with some new faces too.”

Café at the End of the Universe started out as a food van at events and comic cons.

Since then, it has twice been named as a finalist in the British takeaway awards and has won Warrington’s best independent business, best customer service and best burger.

Eagle and Spaceman combines American pub food and bar snacks with American beer and spirits.

The gastropub also stocks a range of American beers and whiskeys such as Samuel Adams, Sierra Nevada and Blue Moon, as well as lots of smaller US breweries.
