TWO men have raised a fortune for two good causes after hosting a dazzling Las Vegas-themed fundraiser.

Thomas Taylor and Gary Hornsby raised £2,677 for two charities, with £1,338.50 each going to Andy’s Man Club and PTSD999.

The former is a men’s suicide prevention charity, while the latter is a social enterprise supporting those in the emergency services and their families living with post-traumatic stress disorder.

The evening, which took place in Pierpoint and Bryant Social Club in Latchford, featured several tribute acts, including Elvis and ABBA, as well as blackjack and roulette gambling tables, and a speech by Stuart Torevell, camera operator for the television series Most Haunted.

Gary also provided entertainment for the evening by donning an Elvis costume, announcing the winners of the raffle and auction and playing a twenty-minute set.

The raffle raised £160 within the first 15 minutes, with £2 for a ticket and £10 for a strip.

The auction also proved as a success, with the top bid reaching £80 for two tickets for a day out shooting.

Later, dressed in a silver jumpsuit and blonde wig, Gary returned to the stage with Mollie McEntee and Mandy Hardisty, introducing himself as Astrid, the missing member of ABBA.

Tom, who works at Ambulnz Community Partners, claimed that the night ‘went better than expected’ after raising ‘triple the amount they planned on making’.

The event proved to be a great success, despite the four-month planning period facing minor difficulties with audio and balloon preparations.

An audience member said: “It was absolutely mad, but I had a brilliant time.”
