PLANS seeking permission to enable a breakfast and sandwich shop to "expand" its menu and operate as a hot food takeaway have been drawn up.

Proposals relate to the business premises at 64 Park Road South, Newton-le-Willows.

Applicant Rizwana Suriya has sent the proposals for the change of use from a café to a takeaway to the council.

A design and access statement in the plans states: "The premises forms part of a parade of commercial units, consisting of retail uses, including a hot food takeaway unit.

"The unit has recent planning to convert into two smaller units retaining the sandwich shop and an additional small unit in class E.

"The current unit is called, ‘Breakfasts, Sandwiches, Milkshakes, Desserts’. The proposals is to change the Class E use for the sandwich shop into Sui Generis, hot and cold food takeaway.

"The purpose of this is to allow the current owner to expand their menu to include hot breakfast sandwiches and early evening food including chips and pizzas to its sandwich menu."

The proposed opening hours are for between 8am and 10pm. Plans add that there would be four full-time and two part-time employees at the site after the change, an increase from the existing three full-time and one part-time.

The statement adds: "Evening hours are to extend and complement the existing business by allowing the addition of hot food in the form of chips, pizzas etc.

"Historically there has been a take away in the next door property, called 'Willow Fried Chicken and Pizza'.

"This has permanently closed with a proposal to convert the unit into a barbers and hairdressers.

"The introduction of this premises as a take away trading from 8am to 10pm will create additional jobs".

The plans have gone on standard consultation to the public, with no objections raised.

A decision is expected by Wednesday, August 7.
