AS the schools break up for summer and kids enjoy a month of sun (or maybe rain), we thought we would reflect on the outcomes of all the Ofsted inspections primary schools across the borough have had since the start of the school year.

Looking back through the Ofsted reports that have been published since September, it has once again been a very successful year for primary schools in the area – with all achieving a rating of Good or Outstanding.

So here are all the Ofsted ratings handed out to primary schools in Warrington since the start of the school year.

Grading ranges from Inadequate being the lowest to Outstanding being the highest rating.

Cherry Tree School – ‘Good’

This Lymm-based primary school was inspected by Ofsted on December 5 and 6, 2023.

An Ofsted inspector said: “Pupils are excited to come to school each day. Cherry Tree is a school where pupils model the school’s motto to ‘bring out the best in each other’. This means that pupils, including children in the early years, blossom and grow.”

Stockton Heath Primary School – ‘Good’

This West Avenue school was last graded good by Ofsted after an inspection in January.

The report said: “Pupils at this school embody its core values of friendship and respect. These values underpin the harmonious relationships between everyone in school. Pupils are thoughtful and well mannered. They make everyone feel welcome.”

Twiss Green Community Primary School - 'Good'

This Culcheth school was last inspected by Ofsted in November 2023.

An inspector said: "Pupils enjoy coming to school. They feel well cared for by staff and they said that this helps them to feel safe.

"They are keen to learn new things and they relished talking about the topics that they have studied recently. The school ensures that pupils are encouraged by staff to live out the values of respect, resilience and relationships in their actions each day. Pupils are proud to celebrate their accomplishments."

Oakwood Avenue Community Primary School – ‘Good’

This primary was last inspected in January 2024, having converted to academy status.

The report began: “Pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), at Oakwood Avenue Primary School thrive in all aspects of their development. The ‘Oaky values’ run like a golden thread through all parts of school life. Pupils, and children in the early years, come into school with smiles on their faces, happy to see their friends and the staff.”

Statham Primary School – ‘Good’

Based on Warrington Road, this school was last inspected on October 25 and 26.

An Ofsted inspector said: “Pupils come to school happy and ready to learn. Staff greet them with a smile each morning.

“Pupils value the way in which staff check on how they are feeling. Parents and carers were overwhelmingly positive about their children’s experiences at school. For example, some parents said that nothing was too much trouble for staff.

“Staff build strong, supportive relationships with pupils and their families. This helps pupils to feel safe and happy in school.”

Woolston Community Primary School – ‘Good’

Located on Barnfield Road, this Woolston school continues to be good, according to an Ofsted inspection dating back to September 2023.

The school joined One Community Trust and converted to academy status in 2019.

The report began: “Pupils feel included at this caring school community. They value and embrace difference. They also appreciate and welcome pupils who are part of the specially resourced provision for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). At social times, the playground is an oasis of calm.

“Pupils of all ages mix well together. They engage in a variety of carefully considered activities. These include adventures on the climbing frame, ball games and imaginative play.”
