A POPULAR chippy has highlighted to customers that it will remain open for business as usual following a shock.

Owners of Plaice Station woke yesterday, Thursday, to find that a road closure had been enforced right outside its business premises.

The chippy is located next to Padgate railway station, with Warrington Borough Council closing Station Road between Blackbrook Avenue junction and Church Drive.

Plaice Station says that despite the closure, which it was not aware of, the business is still open as usual.

It said: “Unfortunately we arrived yesterday, Thursday, to find these road closures in place.

“We have had no prior notice from Warrington Borough Council or Scottish Power, and have had no previous signage stating road closures from ‘date to date’.

“As it stands there is currently no signage stating business is open as usual either. We have been told by site workers this is due to be in place for a minimum of one week and up to two.

“Our shop and other businesses on Station Road are, as it stands, still accessible via Harpers Road using Birchwood Way as an access point.

“Please would everyone share this as far as possible. It is a huge concern for the potential loss of trade due to major traffic issues.

“We are looking at options to put on an in-house delivery service as a result to open up your options.

“We are still available as normal for walk-in store orders, telephone collection, website collection at plaicestation.co.uk and Uber collection and delivery.”

Warrington Borough Council previously issued a two-week closure notice for Station Road for network reinforcement works to be carried out by Scottish Power.

A spokesman said: “Access will be under the control of the relevant contractor for the duration of the works.

“The alternative route will be via Blackbrook Avenue, Birchwood Way, Woolston Grange Avenue, Harpers Road and vice versa.”
