AN inspiring female mechanic is jumping to new heights in her career as she joins a panel of experts at a prestigious motor show.

Jade Price, from Great Sankey, works as a mechanic at Warrington Audi, a job she has dreamt of doing from a young age.

From being a young girl, watching her dad and grandad ‘mess with cars’, Jade became captivated by the workings of cars and aspired to be a mechanic when she grew up.

But she quickly had her eyes opened to the male-dominated industry she dreamed of being a part of when she was ‘laughed out of the garage’ as a 17-year-old.

However, that did not knock her back and the 31-year-old has pushed and succeeded, winning and being nominated for several awards along the way.

And soon she will be one of the many expert faces on the judging panel for The British Motor Show this coming August.

“17,000 people attend the show each year, and they want me to do a talk at the event and help inspire more people to join the industry,” Jade explained.

“I was shocked when they asked me. This is huge to me. I have never done anything like this before.

“I am on the panel everyday for all four days. They have driving experiences; information talks and there are celebs there too.”

The British Motor Show will commence on August 15 to 18 in Farnborough.

Speaking on where her love of cars began, Jade said: “My grandad and dad were always messing with cars. I always went back to it, and it always helped a lot with my mental health.

“My grandad was my role model. He died when I was young, so it makes me feel still connected to him, working with cars.

“And I have always wanted to be successfully in the motor industry.”

Jade explained that part of her role at Audi is making sure all the brand-new cars that come into the garage from the factories are ‘road safe’ – an important job prior to selling the vehicles to the public.

Her journey to success however has been rocky, with the mechanic being diagnosed with the long-term condition of Endometriosis during lockdown.

The condition is caused by tissue, similar to the womb lining, growing in other places, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes.

Jade detailed that the growth of tissue occurs mainly in the back of her womb and has been a painful struggle to deal with over the last few years.

But she has still battled on and achieved her goals despite the setbacks with her health.

And her breakthroughs in the male-orientated industry have not gone unrecognised, with Jade being nominated for several awards over the years.

These include Inspiring Woman of the Year 2022, Automotive Trailblazer 2021 and Autocar Apprentice of the Year 2022.

More recently, she has also been nominated for Inspiring Woman of the Year 2024.

“I also do car content on the side. I want to inspire woman and people with long term illnesses.

“My advice to women and girls like me who aspire to be in the motor industry would be just do not give up.”
