A NEW ‘artisan brasserie’ is set to open in the town, it can be revealed.

Juniper will open its fourth location, all based in Cheshire, in Stockton Heath.

It will open in the unit formerly occupied by Tomahawk steakhouse, on London Road.

The 85-cover restaurant opened back in August 2021, specialising in the ‘finest Himalayan salt dry aged heritage and rare breed steak around’.

It also offered breakfast, lunch, and Sunday sharing options, with the venue serving as a bar in the evenings.

But it closed in unexplained circumstances back in March, with ‘to let’ signs placed in the windows of the business premises, formerly occupied by Bistro Pierre and Loch Fyne.

In May, it was revealed that a new occupier had taken over the site, with 'under offer' signs installed.

Now, plans have been submitted to Warrington Borough Council’s planning department for signage which has revealed that the occupier is Juniper.

The business brands itself as ‘a collection of artisan brasseries, serving an internationally inspired menu of fine food and beverages, together with attentive customer service to create a high-quality dining experience’.

Its three other branches are in the affluent areas of Wilmslow, Hale and Bramhall.

Applicant Juniper UK is seeking permission to change windows at the unit with bi-fold replacements, as well as install a retractable canopy and signage.

Planning documents state: “The property is a commercial building, which was previously occupied by Tomahawk steakhouse, but closed in early 2024, with the building now vacant.

“The application proposes external alterations to the building to allow it to reopen as a Juniper café.

“Juniper already has successful premises in Hale, Bramhall and Wilmslow, and Stockton Heath has been identified as the ideal location for a new premises.

“The proposed scheme is for shopfront alterations to the building in order to facilitate its reoccupation by Juniper. The proposed alterations are relatively minor in scope.”

They add: “The proposed works are required to facilitate the occupation of the vacant commercial premises by Juniper.

“This will provide a range of planning benefits, including the reuse of a vacant building, creating employment opportunities and contributing positively to the vitality and vibrancy of Stockton Heath.”
