A MAN tragically died after being struck by a train on the line between Widnes and Warrington.
John O’Neill was found by emergency services near Hough Green railway station on Sunday, March 10, an inquest in Warrington heard on Wednesday.
The 46-year-old was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Victoria Davies, area coroner for Cheshire, said Mr O’Neill had been receiving medical care for and was under the care of a mental health team and was compliant with his medication.
On March 10, Mr O'Neill was struck by a train at 6.16pm near Hough Green Station on Liverpool Road in Widnes, Cheshire Coroners’ Court was told.
Paramedics from North West Ambulance Service and crews from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident.
British Transport Police attended and concluded there were no suspicious circumstances or third party involvement.
The coroner concluded the death was due to suicide.
