POLICE are appealing for information following reports that a woman and her dog were bitten by two bull mastiff-type dogs.

The incident is reported to have occurred on a footpath in woodland off Westbrook Way in Westbrook on Saturday afternoon.

Cheshire Police has confirmed that it was called to the area at around 2.45pm.

It was reported that all dogs were on their leads, but the man walking the bull mastiffs could not control them due to their size, leading them to bite her as she protected her dog, said to be a spaniel, and the dog itself.

After getting his dogs – one described as being brown in colour and the other grey – back under control, it was reported to police that the man left the scene.

He is described as being Asian or Middle Eastern-looking, of a slim build, with dark hair and aged in his late 20s or early 30s.

Cheshire Police has confirmed it is investigating the report, and is calling for anyone with any information to make contact with officers.

A force spokesman said: “At 2.45pm on Saturday, July 20, police were called to reports that a woman and her dog had been bitten by two other dogs.

“The incident occurred in a woodland area off Westbrook Way, Warrington.

“The other dogs were described as two bull mastiffs who were with their owner, described as an Asian man, who left the scene following the incident.
