FIRERIGHTERS rescued a casualty from a burning flat in Callands.

Fire engines from Warrington, Penketh, and Lymm responded to the emergency call to Granston Close at 12.37am on Monday, July 23.

Officers wore oxygen masks to get to the casualty, who was pulled from the burning flat and given emergency care.

The resident was then handed over to staff from Northwest Ambulance Service, before firefighters went back to tackle the blaze with a hose.

The fire is believed to have started accidentally in the kitchen.

A high-pressure fan was used to clear smoke from the flat.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters in breathing apparatus rapidly deployed into a flat on fire to rescue the resident.

“While crew members gave casualty care before handing them into the care of the ambulance service, firefighters tackled the fire in the kitchen of the property using a hose reel jet.

“A high-pressure fan was used to clear smoke from the flat.

“Crews were at the scene for around three hours.

“The fire is believed to have started accidentally.”
