A COMMUNITY cinema screening in Grappenhall was accompanied by an impressive exhibition.

When Grappenhall Community Cinema screened “Loving Vincent” it included an exhibition of five Van Gogh reproductions.

They were painted by local artist Denis Holder who has been a great fan of the famous Dutch artist since childhood.

So much so, that over many years, he has developed a detailed understanding of his techniques and painted more than 40 copies of Van Gogh’s work.

Denis likes to use his full size paintings, rather than photographs, to help people develop a better understanding of Van Gogh’s style of work. He has given illustrated talks to community groups and schools and has had a number displayed in the Central Library in Warrington.

If you are a member of a local community group, school or library and would like more information about Denis making a presentation, often without a fee, then contact him on 07884 253784.

Grappenhall's recently established community cinema screens films monthly on a new state of the art screen with surround sound to enjoy the full cinema experience.

The venue, in The Old Barn at Grappenhall Community Centre, provides the opportunity to enjoy a relaxed viewing experience in a local venue which has licensed bar facilities and ample free car parking.

Drinks, snacks and individual tubs of ice cream from Cheshire Farm's Ice Cream are available to buy throughout the film from The Olde Barn Bar.

The next screening will be “When the Crawdads Sing” and doors open on Wednesday August 21.

Tickets will be available in the Bellhouse Pub for £5 for adults and £3 for children or online at www.wegottickets.com for £5.50 and £3.30 (including booking charge).
