CHILDREN feel ‘safe and secure’ at a Kids Planet Nursery in Warrington.

The popular nursery chain’s setting in Appleton Thorn was given a glowing review following an inspection from education watchdogs recently.

Located on Thorn House, Green Lane, the nursery was rated Good by Ofsted.

Staff at the setting were observed to be ‘warm’ and ‘responsive’ as they greeted happy children arriving for the day, the official report said.

The manager of the nursery was seen to have ‘clear expectations for children’s learning’ and the nursery has a focus on promoting ‘children's personal, social, emotional and physical development’.

An inspector began the report saying: “Children show that they feel safe and secure as they freely explore the well[1]organised, fun space.

“They seek out their friends and key people to invite them into their play.

“Staff offer children lots of praise and encouragement, which help to boost their confidence and self-esteem. Children have a variety of opportunities to extend and practise their developing skills.”

A love of reading is promoted to the children and they are provided with a ‘variety of rich texts’ which they can often be seen enjoying both independently and with members of staff.

Highlighting another positive, the inspectors noted the children’s behaviour at the setting and how staff encourage them to make ‘good choices’ which is ‘reflected in children’s positive behaviour’.

Meanwhile, in terms of physical development, the report stated: “Children learn how activities can contribute positively to their mental health.

“For example, staff provide weekly yoga sessions for all age groups. Children experience managed risks and help each other to climb ladders safely.

“Staff provide challenging structures for children to freely explore and climb. As a result, children have excellent core strength, coordination, agility and confidence.”

Also, children with SEND were noted as receiving ‘tailored support and resources to support their needs’.

Along with staff benefiting from ‘focused training opportunities’, they expressed to inspectors the feeling of being ‘valued’ at the nursery and ‘committed to providing quality care’.
