POLICE have explained why they were visible on the same residential street on consecutive days over the weekend.

Cheshire Police cars were reported on Grasmere Avenue in Orford on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.

The force has issued a statement in relation to both incidents, with one being a call-out over a reported assault and the other over a reported domestic incident.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 5pm on Friday, July 19, police were called to reports of an altercation in a car which was travelling from Manchester to Warrington.

“Officers attended and the vehicle was located on Grasmere Avenue.

“The driver of the car, a 33-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of section 39 assault. He has since been released on bail.

“Then at 1.38pm on Saturday, July 20, police received anonymous reports of a domestic incident at an address on Grasmere Avenue, Warrington.

“Officers attended and spoke to the occupants and found that no offences had been committed.”
