A GREAT Sankey Scout group is on a mission to raise £29,000 and has enlisted the help of an award-winning baker.

Great Sankey’s 10th Warrington Scouts wants to send 21 members of the group to Norway for a week long adventure in August next year.

So far, their fundraising activities have included Easter egg hunts, Christmas tree collections and market stalls as well as completing a sponsored inflatable assault course in Liverpool.

The group’s latest money-making event was backed by Jen Perry at Room Forty – Woolston’s mobile afternoon tea room.

Room Forty made up her delicious boxed afternoon tea servings for the Scouts to deliver around the WA5 area of Warrington.

Cub Scout volunteer Steph Hutchinson said: “We are running all sorts of fundraisers to get to our target and this was the latest.

“I have known Jen at Room Forty for a long time and know how fabulous her home baked afternoon teas are.

“She was keen to help so we came up with the idea between us.

“Jen did all the baking and our Scouting team helped her with the packing and arranged the distribution.

“Our Scouts delivered 59 boxes of Room Forty’s delicious afternoon tea treats to homes around the area last Saturday.

“The venture has added more than £300 to the fundraising pot!”

Jen Perry added: “I was delighted to be asked by Steph and the 10th Warrington Scouts to help with their fundraising campaign.

“The Scouts is a fantastic organisation.

“I personally love adventure and the outdoors and only wish I could join them in Norway!”

The 10th Warrington Scout group has plenty more fundraising activities planned over the next few months including sponsored challenges, a quiz night and a curry night as well as a summer fair and a fashion event.
