AN ambitious young boy from Stockton Heath has been named Cyclist of the Year following his 80-mile bike ride.

Eight-year-old Harvey Goodman was given the prestigious award by Bikeability after his triumphant riding challenge.

Harvey set off pedalling from his school, Stockton Heath Primary and rode to all four north west premiere league stadiums over a period of two days.

In doing this he raised an outstanding £7,500 for his school, to purchase a new bike shelter.

And 400 of his peers at the school joined him on his challenge.

Harvey’s mum, Naiomi Goodman, commented on her son’s latest success saying: “Harvey's dedication and perseverance have not only earned him this significant accolade but also a brand-new Frog bike, generously provided by Frog Bikes.

“His achievement is a testament to the positive impact young individuals can make in their communities and the importance of encouraging active and healthy lifestyles from a young age.”

An inspiration to many his age, Harvey has previously embarked on fundraising hurdles to help those that need it.

Last year saw him raise an incredible £27,000 for Alder Hey Hospital after completing a 40-mile trek from the site of the hospital in Liverpool all the way to Old Trafford - home ground of his favourite club Manchester United.
