A POPULAR cocktail bar in Warrington will say farewell to all its customers with a closing party, as it shuts its doors for good.

The ‘last ever night’ at Savannah 19, in Culcheth, will take place on Saturday, July 27, as the owners prepare for an emotional send off.

Mother and son duo, and proud owners of the cocktail bar, Sue and Steve Savannah, announced the business would be closing in a statement on social media at the start of the month.

The bar, which has been open for eight years now, was a huge success within the Culcheth community, but in recent years, like much of the food and drink industry, it has hit hard times.

Speaking with the Warrington Guardian previously, Steve said: “We've hung on by the skin of our teeth and worked for free for so long.

“The village is now like a ghost town, and I don't blame them when people's mortgages have gone up by so much.

“But we can't continue if there's no one to serve.”

The pair opened the bar as somewhat of a pipe dream, and they both expressed their enjoyment at watching it become a pivotal part of the community over the years.

However, the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis took a toll on the business, leading to its eventual closure this month.

In part of the sad statement that announced the end of the road for the business, the pair said: “We will be walking away with our heads held high after such an amazing experience, we have until the end of the month to say our goodbyes.

“We hope if you have ever joined us previously for the eight years of live entertainment, we have provided every Friday and Saturday night, you will pop in and enjoy us one last time.

“It’s the end of the road for us, we will miss you all.”

As a final goodbye, Sue and Steve are welcoming the whole community down to Savannah 19 for their Last Ever Night event in which live singer James Loughlin will play a live set.

Shots and flutes of prosecco will be handed out for locals to enjoy along with all the fantastic cocktails and beverages that can be purchased at the bar.

Commenting on the response to the announcement of the closure, Steve added: “I would like to mention that we have had literally hundreds of messages of support and condolences which has been lovely.

“It shows we really have been a part of the community and that we will be missed.”
