A MAN died just weeks after returning from holiday.
An inquest has been opened into the death of Great Sankey resident John Stephen Nichol.
Mr Nichol, of Cleveleys Road, had started experiencing cardiac episodes after bowel movements on a foreign holiday five weeks before his death.
Upon returning, he visited his GP on a number of occasions and was on one point taken to Warrington Hospital by ambulance.
He began feeling unwell again on June 29 and was admitted to Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital.
His condition deteriorated and Mr Nichol died on July 1, age 77.
At Cheshire Coroner’s Court on Wednesday (July 17), senior coroner Jacqueline Devonish formally opened an inquest into his death.
She said concerns had ben raised about his treatment and care during the visit to Warrington Hospital.
An internal review is scheduled for September 15 before the full inquest on December 6, 2024.
