A WARRINGTON primary school is edging closer to its £10k fundraising goal to build a new playground for its pupils.

Bruche Primary School hosted a summer fair this month which was a ‘tremendous success’ and raised an outstanding £2,000.

The sun came out for the special occasion and the fair was fun packed with a raffle, a ‘grow your own sunflower’ area, a second hand toys and clothes sale and plenty of games and live dance performances.

Thanks were given to Tesco Winwick, Sainsbury’s on Church Street, and a number of independent Warrington businesses that donated prizes for the raffle.

Tank bar, Dog and Partridge, Cycle Buddies Rope and Anchor, Bruche Cafe, Bents Garden Centre, Lauren Coombes beauty, Ema Mae beauty, and Electrofix just to name a few.

Speaking on the event, which brought the school’s fundraising total up to £4,000, a spokesperson from Bruche Primary said: “The weather held up, and we had a fantastic day.

“We had a 'grow your own' sunflower area which was kindly donated to us from Sphere consumer products. Each child was able to plant and grow their own sunflower to take home.

“We ran a second-hand toy and uniform sale. As a school we are trying to be as sustainable as possible by encouraging our children to reuse and reduce waste. This area was a huge hit with parents and children.”

Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols attended the event and showed her support for the cause too.

Various games were available to take part in and there was a large chill-out area.

The North West Ambulance Services NHS trust and the 26th Warrington East (2nd Padgate) Scouts joined the event as well.

“We had a huge wellbeing area and massages by Warrington Pain Clinic, we even had a live dance show from Warrington Dance Studio, which was fantastic and once again demonstrated the community's support for us,” a spokesperson for the school.
