A BEAUTY spot in Warrington has been named as one of the best in the country.
For the eighth year in a row, Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden has received a Green Flag Award.
The accreditation is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces.
Those at the walled garden, which is owned and managed by Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council, say it is testament to the hard work and dedication of the site’s garden manager Graham Richardson and the volunteers that care for the green space so that visitors can enjoy it.
The gardens are a popular beauty spot and attract many visitors whether that be for a walk, to admire the greenery, or to visit the café.
Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award scheme manager, Paul Todd MBE, said: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved at Grappenhall Heys on achieving a Green Flag Award.
“The garden is a vital green space for both the local and wider community to socialise, enjoy nature, learn more about the natural environment and it provides important opportunities for people to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
“We know that staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that it maintains the high standards of the Green Flag Award, everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement.
“It is important that our free to use spaces are maintained to the Green Flag Award standard, making them accessible for all members of the community while ensuring the environment is protected.”
