AN inspirational heart surgeon from Alder Hey Hospital who also performs free heart surgery on children in third world countries is paying a visit to a Warrington school.

Dr Ramana Dhannapuneni is the head of cardiac surgery at the Liverpool children's hospital but spends his spare time carrying out vital surgery for patients through the charity Healing Little Hearts.

He goes to third world countries to perform surgeries for free on children who would otherwise have no access to such treatment.

And this Friday, Dr Dhannahpuneni will visit St Gregory’s High School in Great Sankey and meet the staff and pupils that have been fundraising tirelessly to provide a donation to the charity.

A spokesperson for St Gregory’s said: “We are going to present Ram with the cheque when he comes in on Friday.

“We raised the money through our Euros Day and Culture Days in school.

“When Ram is in, he is also going to speak to some students about his career so that the pupils can ask him questions about the sector he works in which will be good for their own careers advice.”
