RAVERS young and old will not want to miss out on this atmospheric house party hosted within the historic walls of Warrington Museum.

Kick starting Warrington Arts Festival this Friday, residents are invited to experience a ‘night at the museum’ with Aphrodite’s House Party event.

Co-ordinated by dance company Night People, the museum will be transformed into a club scene, with low lit lighting, a bar and a DJ playing sets throughout the night.

But the standout part of the night will be the surprise pop-up performances that will be staged randomly during the evening.

Explaining what is in store for the unique event, co-director Daisy Howell said: “We are hosting a performance evening which has been made for the museum.

“We are a dance company that specialise in dance, movement and visuals. A lot of our work experiences are in the club and rave scene.

“A lot of what we try to do is bring contemporary events to spaces like galleries and museums.”

The 28-year-old, from Stockton Heath, described the night as a ‘episodic club event’ for all walks of life.

“Throughout the night we have a series of pop-up performances portraying what would happen if Aphrodite ran a house party.

“There will also be DJ sets and visual art while the audience is carried through the night by these pop-up performances, performed through dance and spoken words.”

Daisy and co-director Aron Howell collaborated to write and direct the scenes that will be performed at the event alongside a team of six performers.

And all of this is to be paired with a club and bass soundtrack.

Meanwhile a cabaret-style host will also guide the audience through the night as the whole museum comes alive.

DJ Luke Marley is up to play a set with some light techno and bass music expected.

And a section of the night’s music will be devoted to pop icons too – there is something for everyone.

“The essence of everything we do is to bring party and escapism and find fun in social environments. It is very autonomous, and audiences can freely roam.

“It’s all about socialising and promoting safe and inclusive spaces. A lot of our performance themes are around queer love.”

The co-director added that many of the performance events ran by Night People also cater to those who enjoy sober nights and want to try something new that is thought provoking and not a stereotypical club night scene.

Doors will open from 7pm to 10pm and tickets are on sale now for £5 per entry. To buy a ticket click here.
