POLICE and the court system have been involved following unauthorised traveller caravan camps set up in Warrington.

This is according to an unauthorised encampment log for Cheshire and Warrington operated by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Three encampments are showing on the log, having been updated by the Cheshire and Warrington Traveller Team states today, Monday.

The first involves 10 caravans and associated towing vehicles that pitched up on land at Silver Lane in Risley on Wednesday.

The council-owned land is becoming something of an unauthorised encampment hotspot, having experienced similar incursions over recent years.

The log states that the council is awaiting a court order for the group to vacate the site.

Three caravans and towing vehicles also set up camp on Culcheth Village Green, off Kirkby Road, on Saturday.

A resident stated that a post was removed at the far end of the green to gain access, with a council officer to attend the council-owned land.

A third incursion was reported on privately-owned land on Longbarn Boulevard, close to the M62 near Birchwood.

That particular group arrived yesterday, Sunday, with the encampment consisting of five caravans and towing vehicles.

The log states that officers from Cheshire Police are to attend the location.
