THE funded holiday activities programme for young people across Warrington is returning for the summer.

School holidays can be a difficult time for families with the extra expenses of food, childcare and activities to keep children entertained during what would usually be a school week.

To provide some much-needed support for families facing these struggles across Warrington, the government has brought back its Holidays Activities and Food (HAF) programme for young people aged five to 16.

The HAF programme is a scheme funded by the Department for Education.

It gives children who are eligible for benefit related free school meals the opportunity to take part in fun, enriching activities and receive a healthy meal. It runs during Easter, summer and the Christmas school holidays.

The summer programme is now open for parents/carers to register their children. To find and book on a session visit warrington.gov.uk/haf

Cllr Jean Flaherty, cabinet member for children, families and education said: “The programme is fully funded for some of our families and includes daily nutritious meals and fun activities.

“From sports to arts and crafts, including specialist SEND support, there's something for every child to enjoy.”
