MORE travellers have pitched up unauthorised on private land in Warrington.

A total of nine caravans and associated towing vehicles set up camp on the car park of B&Q Warrington.

This is according to an unauthorised encampment log for Cheshire and Warrington operated by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The encampment was uploaded onto the log by the Cheshire and Warrington Traveller Team states this morning, Friday.

The group arrived on the privately-owned site, off Delph Lane in Winwick, on Wednesday, the log states, but the group has since left.

It was reported yesterday, Thursday, that 10 caravans and towing vehicles had pitched up on Silver Lane in Risley on Wednesday.

This is not the first time the site has been accessed by travellers setting up camp unauthorised, with a number of camps being reported there over the years.

The log states that, as of yesterday afternoon, a section 77 notice was to be served on the group to leave.

Warrington has seen a number of unauthorised encampments in recent days and weeks, including incursions on land at Gemini Retail Park and businesses at Winwick Quay.

A permitted gathering of around 100 caravans is currently taking place on land on Highfield Lane in Winwick.
