A GROUP of friends are going The Full Monty to raise vital funds for St Rocco’s Hospice.

The idea came about by one of the group members, Adie, and his fiancée Joanne.

The duo wanted to do something to get men talking and socialising, and St Rocco’s held a special place in their hearts as both of Joanne’s nans received ‘first class care and support’ from the hospice.

Each member of the team has their own reason for taking part – whether that be from losing a loved one to cancer, to knowing someone who was cared for by the hospice, or to wanting to give back to the community.

On the evening, the event will hear live music from Warrington and Runcorn based band Parlous, as well as DJs and an Adele tribute act, before the finale rendition of The Full Monty.

The cast for The Full Monty is as follows:

Adie

Adie describes himself as a ‘hairy builder’.

He said “I lost my dad to lung cancer and know far too many people who have also lost loved ones or have been affected in some way.

“I’m doing this to help to raise as much as we can for our local hospice who, between them all, do an incredibly important job.”

Lee

Lee raises money for St Rocco’s every year and is always looking for new ways to shine.

He was crowned Fundraiser of the Year in the Warrington Guardian Inspiration Awards 2024 and it’s clear to see why.

He said: “I raise money for St Rocco’s because it’s such a great charity and I have friends who have lost loved ones and the care they got was incredible.”

Karl

Karl is the ‘chunky but funky’ guy who said that this is their craziest event yet.

He said: “St Rocco’s is an amazing local much-loved charity.

“You can’t speak to anyone in Warrington pretty much whose family hasn’t been helped or touched by St Rocco’s kindness.

“It’s an honour to think I am helping them all in some way.”

Phil

Phil says he is ‘your local loveable bin man’ and wanted to take part to give something back after having loved ones that have had cancer.

Vini

Vini is the ‘loveable rogue’ and has had friends and family who have suffered.

He said: “Let’s carry on helping people who need our help.’

Paul

Paul is a personal trainer and truck driver who is approaching a milestone birthday so wanted to take on this challenge to prove he is still ‘young at heart’.

He said: “Both my mum and my father-in-law passed away from lung cancer, so I know how important it is to support hospices like St Rocco's, and I hope we raise as much money as possible while having a good laugh at the same time.”

Jamie

Finally, Jamie is taking part in honour of his cousin, Nicky, who he describes as his hero.

He said: “My cousin Nicky had Birkett’s lymphoma in 1995 at the age of 16 and spent months in hospital and months having chemo.

“I stayed for weeks with him in hospital, luckily by the grace of God he pulled through and is alive and kicking today.

“He is my hero, so this is something extremely close to my heart so I did not hesitate to take part, it was a no brainer.

“So glad to be part of this with the other amazing lads to raise awareness and money for this amazing charity.”

The event, which is taking place October 18 at  is being sponsored by Triton Construction Ltd and Trent Civils UK with a supporting sponsor, B-engineering.  Stacey Atkinson and Holly Jane Clarke from Velocity Dance have been giving up hours upon hours of their time to teach the boys the dance moves.
