TWO shops inside a Culcheth shopping centre came together to raise money for charity by bringing in a pet parrot to pose with visitors.

Iconic Photography Studio and Sundial Terrace Coffee Shop, in CPS Shopping Centre on Common Lane, joined together to help raise money for three different charities.

Michael Berry, who works at the photography studio, designs the menus for Aysha, Abdul and Nazir Khan at the coffee shop and, after chatting with them, the group decided to host a fundraiser.

The Khan’s brought in their parrot, Scooby, to the shopping centre and Michael took pictures of him with visitors on Saturday, June 22.

Scooby was a hit with guests and spent the day sitting on people’s arms and danced to entertain visitors throughout the day.

“We felt it was a lovely thing to do to bring our Scooby for visitors to see and, with their generosity, we raised over £70 for the Mind mental health charity,” said Aysha.

“Visitors to the centre had a great time meeting Scooby and enjoyed having their photograph taken by Iconic Photography Studio.”

Together, the group went around the shopping centre and took pictures of Scooby with visitors fundraise for Mind, Peace and Mind UK and Cancer Research.

“Mental health is very important these days and we all felt that these were charities that were important to us,” said Michael.

“Animals help with mental health and offer reassurance for people going through lots of emotional problems, another important reason to have mental health support.

“It was wonderful seeing people enjoying themselves and Scooby was very popular.”
