WELCOME to Behind the Lens, a feature that shines a light on the talented photographers in our Warrington Guardian Camera Club group.

This week, we’re talking to Maria Paholik, who has lived in Warrington for the past 14 years.

She started taking photographs eight or nine years ago and would love to learn more about her hobby.

Where are you from?

I am originally from Hungary but I have been in Warrington for almost 14 years now. I also lived in London many years ago and in Holland and Spain for a short while.

When and why did you take up photography?

I started taking photos regularly around eight or nine years ago, when I got my first dog and started taking walks. I loved being able to discover the natural wonders of Warrington.

I don’t consider myself a photographer or that I have taken up photography as such, because I don’t know much about it. On the other hand, I have been interested in photography since I was a teenager, I think.

Once I have completed everything I am doing right now, I would like to learn about photography to have some kind of clue about what I am doing!

What do you love about taking pictures?

I cannot really give an answer to this. It just brings me joy, so I do it. It feels nice when I can capture something beautiful and then if the photos give a good feeling to others.
