POLICE have been patrolling a village after reports of youngsters accessing the banks of the canal.
It isn’t the first time that officers from Stockton Heath Police have received reports of this nature.
The reports concern ‘groups of young people’ accessing the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal off Fairfield Road.
The banks are blocked off with fencing and signage is in place with reads ‘dangerous, no unauthorised access, keep out’.
Officers have asked parents with children who socialise in the area to discuss the dangers of open water with them.
They have also said they will continue to patrol the area.
