A 16-year-old student from Great Sankey has donated 16 inches of his hair after getting it cut for the first time.
Sebastian Llyod, who attends Great Sankey High School, decided to book himself in for a hairdresser’s appointment.
But what is a regular occurrence for many was quite the opposite for him, as the teenager had never had his hair cut before.
During his appointment at Oscars, on Park Road, Sebastian had 16 inches of hair cut off, all of which he decided to donate to Little Princess Trust.
“I’ve had this hair for a long time, about 16 years, and I wanted a change of hairstyle and decided to donate it to charity because it’s something good to do,” he said.
“It’s very nice, it’s very refreshing – but I’m not that used to it yet but it’s nice.
“Lots of [my friends] didn’t recognise me, some people said it looks amazing and some people said, ‘you look so different’.”
Sebastian’s hair was put in an envelope and sent off to be made into a wig for children that suffer with Alopecia and Leukaemia.
As well as donating his hair, Sebastian set up a Just Giving page to help raise money for Little Princess Trust in the process – which has so far reached £730.
“We’re absolutely over the moon with him really,” said Sebastian’s step mum, Deborah.
“We’re really proud that a lad of that age wants to do that.”
“All of our extended family and friends are really proud of him,” added Geoff, Sebastian’s dad.
