THIS week a new photography exhibition will open to the public in Warrington, celebrating the work of a 130-year-old society.
Warrington Photographic Society was founded in the 1890s and now has around 25 members, who come together every fortnight at St John’s United Reform Church, on Wilderspool Causeway.
A variety of lectures are held by experts for the group, and they often run competitions within the society.
Every year, the group hold an exhibition of their pictures and display them for the public to view for free.
This year is no exception, as around 100 A3 photographs will be displayed at The Gateway, on Sankey Street.
A range of different genres will be displayed, including nature, sport and even dog portraits.
It will open tomorrow, Tuesday, and be available to view Monday to Friday from 9am to 7pm until July 12.
Opening the exhibition and handing the society’s annual awards is the Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Steve Wright.
“This is the first time the mayor has agreed to open our exhibition,” said Eileen Jones, president of the Warrington Photographic Society.
“We are absolutely honoured to have him come to our exhibition.
"Warrington Photographic Society welcomes new members to come and join us."
