ONE of Warrington's most historic summer festivals will return tomorrow, Saturday.

Crowds are set to gather gathered in Grappenhall for the village’s annual walking day.

To ensure the safety of all those attending, a number of roads will be closed.

No vehicle, except those taking part in the event and emergency services, will be allowed to travel along or over any of the below streets between 12.30pm and 2pm on Saturday, June 22.

  • Church Lane, from Chester Road to Bellhouse Lane
  • Bellhouse Lane, from Church Lane to Glebe Avenue
  • Glebe Avenue, from Bellhouse Lane to Lindi Avenue
  • Lindi Avenue, from Glebe Avenue to Shadewood Crescent
  • Shadewood Crescent, from Lindi Avenue to Chester Road
  • Chester Road, from Shadewood Crescent to York Road
  • Albert Road, from Chester Road to Victoria Avenue
  • Victoria Avenue, from Albert Road to Beechfield Road
  • Beechfield Road, from Victoria Avenue to York Road
  • York Road, from Chester Road to Middlehurst Road
  • Kildonan Road, from York Road to Middlehurst Road
  • Middlehurst Road, from Kildonian Road to York Road

The road closure order will cease to apply to any of the above streets as soon as the procession in its proper order has passed along any such street.

Bicycles are included in the term ‘vehicle’ and must not be ridden through any of the above streets during the hours specified.

Any person wilfully acting in contravention of the above order will be liable to a penalty not exceeding £400.

Vehicular access to premises will only be permitted under the guidance of the organisers, while pedestrian and emergency routes will be maintained.
