A HOUSE has been closed down for longer by the courts after anti-social behaviour made neighbours’ lives a misery.

Cheshire Police first secured a closure order through the courts for the property on Troutbeck Avenue in Bewsey in March.

This followed numerous reports of drug abuse and disorder being reported, with neighbours reportedly afraid to leave their homes as a result.

The order ran for three months from March 14, but it has now been extended for a further three months following another application to Chester Magistrates’ Court this month.

As before, the occupant has been ordered to leave the property and find alternative accommodation, with all windows and doors being secured.

Anyone who enters the address during the next three months will be committing a criminal offence and could be arrested.

The closure order previously granted by the court was welcomed by PC Sigourney Murphy, of Cheshire Police in Warrington.

She said: “Residents were living in fear and were afraid to leave their homes because of the level of anti-social behaviour and crime caused by the occupant.

“This closure will significantly improve their quality of life, and it further demonstrates our commitment to deliver even safer communities.

“I want to urge anyone with concerns about anti-social behaviour or other criminality in their community to please contact officers.

“We will do everything we can to address these issues and achieve justice.”

Anyone with concerns about anti-social or suspicious behaviour in their area is asked to report it to Cheshire Police via the Cheshire Police website or by calling 101.
