A SEAL has been spotted in the River Mersey once again, as a couple manage to take remarkable pictures of the creature before it swam away.
Steph and Steve Davies were on their way into town this afternoon, Thursday, when they saw a crowd of people gathering on Warrington Bridge, looking down into the River Mersey.
Out of curiosity, the husband and wife went to see what the commotion was about when they saw what had captured the crowds attention.
“There was this massive seal, and it was sort of grappling with an eel or a fish,” said Steph.
“It was having a bit of a tough time with whatever it was, but we think it did kill it and ate it and then it went back down the river.”
Steph and Steve, who live off Wilderspool Causeway, managed to watch the seal for around five minutes and snapped some beautiful pictures in the process.
“It was amazing to see it, really amazing,” said Steph.
“I mean it’s not often you see something like that in Warrington, is it?
“We’re going to head back that way so we’re going to have a look for it again.”
