A WOMAN has been slammed by the courts as being someone with ‘no prospect of rehabilitation’.

Kirsty Willcocks has been locked up over a spree of shoplifting offences in Warrington and Liverpool.

The 38-year-old faced three charges of theft from a shop, as well as two of attempted theft from a shop and one of common assault.

She appeared before Liverpool Magistrates’ Court recently where she indicated guilty pleas to all charges, with the court proceeding to sentence her.

The facts of the case were given by Gayle McCoubrey, prosecuting, who explained how the first offence haw the defendant steal food and drink worth £288.65 from Marks and Spencer, on New Mersey Shopping Park in Speke, on April 2.

Willcocks then targeted another M&S store, this time at Gemini Retail Park in Warrington on April 10, where she attempted to steal make-up worth £1,446.99.

In the process of trying to make off with the items, she assaulted a woman in the shop.

The crime spree continued with another attempted theft from Sports Direct, again on New Mersey Shopping Park, on May 4, with socks and trainers worth £131 being the objects of her desires this time.

Two more thefts were committed on May 10 and June 11 at Morrisons in Speke and B&M at nearby Hunts Cross Shopping Park.

From the former, she stole vapes and razors worth £200, while from the latter she pilfered £64 worth of alcohol products.

Before passing sentence, district judge James Hatton said that Willcocks was a woman who demonstrates ‘no real prospect of rehabilitation’.

He also commented that the offences were so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified, given her ‘flagrant disregard for court orders, people and their property’.

Willcocks, of Millwood Road in Speke, was sentenced to 44 weeks immediate imprisonment.
