PADGATE Walking Day is just around the corner and here is everything you will need to know before the day.

The event is set to take place on Saturday and will commence between 2.15pm and 2.30pm.

Churches and schools taking part will meet and start the Walking Day from Bennetts Recreation Ground on Blackbrook Avenue.

Road closures will be in place between the hours of 2pm and 4pm while the Walking Day is underway.

The following road closures will be in place during that time:

  • Blackbrook Avenue will be closed between Birchwood Way to Padgate Lane

  • Padgate Lane will be closed from Green Lane to Orford Road

  • Green Lane will be closed from Padgate Lane to Whitchurch Close

  • Bruche Avenue will be closed between Padgate Lane to Lawn Avenue

A spokesperson for Warrington Borough Council said: “The above order will cease to apply to any of the above-named streets as soon as the procession in its proper order has passed along any such street.

“Bicycles and Tricycles are included in the term "vehicle" and must not be ridden through any of the above streets during the hours specified.

“Any person wilfully acting in contravention of the above order will be liable to a penalty not exceeding £400.

“Vehicular access to premises will only be permitted under the guidance of the organisers.  Pedestrian and emergency routes will be maintained.”

Warm temperatures are expected for the day so all being well the sun will shine for the highly anticipated event.
