A SUSPECT has been named by the courts following a crash in which a pensioner suffered broken bones.
At around 11.15pm on Saturday, May 27 last year, Cheshire Police was called to reports of a collision on the A49 Brick Street in Warrington town centre.
Officers attended and found there had been a collision between a BMW 520 and a pedestrian – a 74-year-old man.
The pedestrian sustained a number of serious injuries, including two fractures to the spine and a fractured leg.
Now, a suspect has been charged in connection with the incident.
Ayas Raqib, of Quebec Road in Orford, has been charged with causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving.
The particulars of the charge allege that the 32-year-old, on May 27, 2023, caused serious injury to a man by driving a BMW on the A49 Brick Street without due care and attention.
Raqib is due to make a first appearance in relation to the charge before Warrington Magistrates’ Court this afternoon, Monday.
