MOTORISTS are being urged to be extra cautious on the M6 this afternoon, Monday.

This follows reports of a cyclist being spotted on the motorway.

The cyclist was spotted on a slip road joining the motorway heading southbound at junction 21 for Woolston.

A search of the vicinity was conducted shortly after 12.30pm, but the cyclist was not found.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 12.35pm, we received calls reporting a cyclist on the slip road of the M6 southbound at junction 21.

“Highways England attended and a search was carried out, but the cyclist was not located.”
