FIVE incredible Warrington residents have been named in the King’s Birthday Honours.

The list was released today, with famous faces such as Post Officer Campaigner Alan Bates, former prime minister Gordon Brown, and artist Tracey Emin on the list.

In Warrington, five unsung heroes have been recognised.

Martin Leslie Sim, the lately deputy further education commissioner, has been given an CBE for services to further education.

Qualified social worker for Wigan Council Jayne Acton has received a MBE for services to children and families.

An MBE has been issued to Maria Sarkar, co-founder and vice president of Thelwall company DriveWorks for services to manufacturing.

Back in 2019, DriveWorks was honoured at Buckingham Palace with two Queen's Awards.

Technical specialist for the Environment Agency Ann Doyle has also received an BEM for services to water regulation and to the community in Warrington.

And finally, Valerie Woodward has received a BEM for services to the community in Burtonwood.
