A NUMBER of road closures will be in place in the town centre this Sunday.

This is allow for Krazy Races to take place.

Thousands of spectators are expected to flock to the town centre for the event.

They will be cheering on crazy, whacky, and outrages soapbox downhill racers as more than 40 teams launch themselves through town in their carefully hand-crafted karts, with racers set to tackle the track with chicanes, obstacles, water and more.

The following roads will be closed to vehicles between 4am and 9pm on Sunday, June 16:

Bridge Street                          Between Market Gate and its junction with to Friars Gate

Buttermarket Street               Between Academy Street and Market Gate.

Horsemarket Street               Its entire length

Market Gate                           Its entire length

Rylands Street                        Between Barbauld Street and its junction with Bridge Street

Meanwhile the following roads will be closed to pedestrians between 7.30am to 10am and 4pm to 6pm:

Bridge Street                          Between Market Gate and its junction with Dolmans Lane.

Buttermarket Street               Between Academy Street and Market Gate.

Horsemarket Street               Its entire length

Market Gate                           Its entire length

An alternative route will be available via Barbauld Street.

A spokesperson for Warrington Borough Council said: “Bicycles and Tricycles are included in the term "vehicle" and must not be ridden through any of the above streets during the hours specified.

“Any person willfully acting in contravention of the above order will be liable to a penalty not exceeding £400.”
