A STRETTON charity is celebrating 10 years of preventing loneliness and isolation in aging adults.

Home Instead Charities UK is the charitable arm of the national home care company.

In its 10 years, the charity has supported around 60,000 people.

This ranges from providing days out for them, to supporting them with technology to keep them connected with loved ones, and providing activity packs to keep their mind stimulated.

Nearly £500,000 has been raised, much of which has come from the Stretton office’s team who have run marathons, taken on cycling challenges and arranged bake sales.

The Home Instead Charities Lottery has also been launched and last year, a generous grant from the Access Foundation also helped the charity to set up 24 Companionship Cafés.

Executive director of Home Instead Charities, Penny Hamer said, “Our purpose is to bring joy to people and I’m really proud that we have been achieving that for 10 years now.

“Our new Companionship Cafes have been a huge success and bring people from local communities together.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our trustees and everyone who supports us – it means a lot.”
