THERE are not any major problems with fly-tipping in Warrington, a study has found.

It comes after research by Cartridge Save which has revealed the English cities and towns dumping the most rubbish illegally.

The study looked at the total number of fly-tipping incidents, and the total number of fly-tipping incidents per 10,000 people.

In Warrington, there were 1,073 incidents which equates to 61 per 10,000 people.

This placed the town at number 101 on the list which consists of 109 places.

At the top of the list with the worst fly-tipping problem was Durham which had 1,129 incidents per 10,000 people.

Lancaster came second on the list with 709 fly-tipping incidents per 10,000 residents, followed by Rotheram which came third.

Ian Cowley, a spokesperson from Cartridge Save, said: “The study exposes a worrying trend of fly-tipping in English cities.

“Places like Durham and Lancaster highlight the need for a collective effort.

“Clearer government policies, responsible business practices, and individual accountability are all essential.

Residents can make a big difference by utilising council waste services and checking waste carrier licenses.

“By working together, we can keep England's cities clean and healthy.”
