PRICES have been cut on more than 700 products at a Warrington store following a takeover.

Poundstretcher, located near Warrington Bank Quay railway station on Parker Street, has recently been taken over and has new owners.

Fortress Investment Group, the owner of Majestic Wine and Punch Pubs, struck a deal to acquire Poundstretcher’s 320-plus stores across the country in April.

There is now a new leadership team led by the new CEO Andrew Atkinson, the former group commercial director of Morrisons supermarkets.

As a result, changes are being made throughout, most importantly for customers including price cutting across the board.

Passionate staff at the store are keen to welcome customers to see how different the ‘gem’ of a store looks compared to previous years, and to take advantage of new low prices.

Warrington store manager Tony Stanley said: “The business is listening hard to customers and colleagues to understand how we can make Poundstretcher a better place to shop and work, and responding to ideas and suggestions.

“Since April, there have been more than 700 permanent price cuts on many product categories across the store, including household, cleaning, storage, gardening and DIY to name but a few.

“We are introducing hundreds of branded products at great prices and a monthly Super Deals plan to help customers’ budgets go further.

“We have a monthly leaflet to tell customers all about our price cuts and great deals.”

Tony added: “Me and my team here in Warrington are passionate about our store and customers.

“We love what we do and want to give the best service possible.

“Since I joined the store in February 2023, we have been working hard to improve the shopping experience with fuller shelves and a tidier store, and we have had really positive feedback from our customers.”

Based in Leicester, Poundstretcher employs approximately 4,000 people.

The chain, which was established in 1981, sells food, toiletries, garden products and homeware brands.
